How to Know if Your Team Is Watching the Daily Sparks

Jun 06, 2025

At ServiceFirst Essentials, our Daily Sparks are short, powerful video bursts designed to help your team kick off each shift with focus, positivity, and purpose. But since our system is intentionally simple—no logins, no apps, no complicated tracking—you might wonder: How do I know if my team is actually watching them?

The good news? There are easy, low-pressure ways to monitor engagement and even spark meaningful conversations in the process. Here are a few tried-and-true methods:

âś… 1. Create a Daily Check-In Chart

Post a simple chart or clipboard next to the QR code station. Ask each team member to initial or check off their name after watching the Daily Spark. Keep it friendly and light—it’s not about micromanagement, it’s about building momentum and habits.

Pro Tip: Add a weekly “Spark Star” shout-out for consistency or great attitude. Recognition boosts participation!

🗣️ 2. Ask One Spark Question During the Huddle

If you do a daily or weekly team huddle, start by asking:

“What was today’s Spark about?”
Or:
“What part of today’s Spark stuck with you?”

This reinforces the message, encourages reflection, and lets you know who’s engaging.

🎯 3. Tie Sparks to the Week’s Focus

If your location has a weekly service goal, connect it to the Spark themes:

  • “This week is all about friendliness—did today’s Spark help you shift into that mindset before your shift?”

  • “How did this morning’s Spark help with handling guests today?”

This turns the Sparks into tools, not just content.

đź’¬ 4. Keep the Conversation Going

Check in casually throughout the week:

  • “Did you catch today’s Spark?”

  • “What’d you think about that tip on using the guest’s name twice?”

  • “That one made me laugh—did you see it?”

These casual moments show you care about their growth—and that you’re watching too.

📝 5. Run a Weekly Spark Recap Challenge

At the end of the week, ask:

“Who can tell me the topic of three Sparks this week?”

Offer small prizes, or just a high-five and a moment of recognition. It’s a fun way to gamify accountability.

🙌 Remember: The Goal Is Habit, Not Perfection

Even if a team member misses a day or two, the habit of starting the shift with intention is what creates real change. Use these tools to encourage participation—not enforce rules.
